Depends how much say Russell T Davies has, his episodes are always worse than everyone elses. That said the whole multiple companion thing seems a bit crap as well. I'll be moaning here no doubt about it.

Looking at the tv guide, it seems that the first episode is based around Catherine Tate trying to find the Doctor again.

I read an interview with Russell T Davies, he doesn't like internet people  Sad

The first Dr of the new ones was the best, whats his name.... Billy Piper was ok in it too.. I hate that catherine tate woman though, if she's in it it'll be shite.

I don't mind Catherine Tate. Her TV Show was a bit rubbish because she just did the same things over and over and over and over and over... The same punch line for every sketch. And then you get people quoting her all the time which is annoying. But I liked that "am I bovered" thing the first time I saw it and the Nan is ace. The "how very dare you" sketch was funny too...

Erm.. yeah.

So..

Dr Who is riddled with bad acting (not from Tennant though, hes ace, you forget he's Scottish), lame dialogue and cheesy predictable plots.

That said, I still watch it. Its fun in a crap kind of way.

My main issue is many of the ideas behind the episodes could be done in a much better way, (though often darker and probably not so family friendly).

The writers who write doctor who books and radio dramas tend to have a much better grasp than the telly heads they have writing.

It'd be nice if more than 3-4 episodes in a series were good though.

Well, it has a lot do to with the general dumbing down of the BBC, they feel the need to tailor their programmes to the incredibly stupid element of the UK rather than the normal thinking types.

Doctor Who is primarily targeted for 7 year olds though.

That said mainstream TV is a bit shit, notice how sleeper hits on the smaller channels dumb down when they move straight to bbc one or two.

Ah right. I thought you meant turning Dr Who into some gritty, dramatised serious dark sci-fi program  grin That'd just be wrong.

I dunno, I wouldn't mind that, though I suppose I'd be satisfied if Torchwood was actually meant to be for adults rather than 13 year olds.

Erm, don't think Torchwood is meant for 13 year olds. What with all the gay kissing and sexual innuendo...

Look at Primeval. Basically a kids show for adults that takes itself too seriously. Its bollocks. Bollocks and wank.

The BBC are bastards for it..

Spooks for instance, the first series was excellent, well thought out and clever plot lines.. As soon as it became popular they started to simplify it all... Bit by bit until the latest series, which was a bit rubbish.

Torchwood is what a 13 year old would think adult television comprises of.

If you moved Dr Who to any other channel, it wouldn't work. Its meant to be like it is. Dumbed down and a family program. It just wouldn't be the same if it was more like Torchwood. Which is Dr Who for people a bit older.
