i eat raw MSFG for breakfast (the F is for fucking, beacause it's a more hardcore version, much like super Aids) I always have chinese and it doesn't do me any harm.

If we were meant to be plant eaters; a) Why didn't god make them taste nice and b) why do we have meat ripping teeth?

we're omnivores, its only relatively recently that technology has allowed people to get healthy levels of protein without eating meat

It is not my imagination. Always after a chinese meal, the next day sees a giant poo from the so solid crew.

MSG or NON MSG.

Our first reaction was following a meal at a Chinese restaurant that was closed about two weeks after we ate there.  At the time we were not "aware" that there was a problem, and we both had the symptoms together.

To say that it is "psychological" sounds exactly what one would expect from the "medical/food industry".  Perhaps a better thinking processs would be to emphasize the "might be" or "in some cases".  No doubt all food sensitivities and allergies are psychological in the same sense and someone reacting to peanuts only needs to see a shrink.

On the other hand, my wife can "see" flourescent lights flashing all the time, whereas to me they are just "a light".  But she also has the symptoms of MS if she "overdoses" on aspertame.

If MSG is "only" psychological, and the body has reacted to its presence, the bottom line is still, avoid excess amts of it.

To what extent is the vegetarian/vegan question really a "religious" conviction?

Once the religious decision is made, the "scientific" proofs can be lined up according to one's belief.

Allot of the effects aren't psychological I thought but were brought about by not being used to vast quantities of it in your diet which always mucks you up abit. Some people are alergic to it and will get really bad heart problems and sweat lots and what not.

its likely that either the restaurant was using much much more MSG than is recommended, or there was another chemical in the food which shouldn't have been there.

studies of MSG have shown that people who claim to have an MSG intolerance react exactly the same whether they have been given MSG or a placebo. But with nut allergies, people diagnosed with an allegery have a definite reaction to nuts or nut extracts whether they know they are being given it or not.

oddly enough, I can see some fluorescent lights flicker, but others are just a light. Some peoples eyes are more sensitive than others, and also some fluorescent lights are more flickery than others, so my eyes must fall right in the middle of the range over which fluorescent lights flicker.
Often when I'm in shops or offices for a while I get sore eyes, I don't know whether this is caused by the flickering of fluorescent lights, dry air from air conditioning, or if its just psychological

OK, now just to keep our research analysists on their toes, and everything strictly scientific...

"studies ... have shown "that people"..." etc.  Is that 100% of the people who claim to have an intolerance react the same whether given MSG  or a placebo, or is that "over 50%"  or is it less than?

If only 1 person reacted ONLY when given MSG and not at all with a placebo, that would be sufficient grounds to conclude that MSG can give a reaction that is not psychological but completely physical.

I mention light wave sensitivity for florescents only to emphasise that if our ability to detect these higher spectrums, or whatever is involved, then why should we  not suppose that different bodies have different sensitivities to chemicals, whether it be MSG,  or serotonin, or dopamine, or whatever else sets our sytems "right" or "wrong"?

In other words, if one is going to "employ" science to discount, (or support) a "finding" (or prejudice) they need to apply it across the board.
