Read the latest Buffy last night. From a strong start the series is really taking a nosedive. The last 3-4 issues have been terrible. They've been stand-alone rather than a multi-part story, or even a story that advances the main plot. They've been a complete waste of time.

Next one is another stand-alone, but is Faith-centric so it will hopefuly get things back on track.

Newest Angel on the other hand continues to rock.

Does Buffy actually work as a comic then?

I've seen every season (or the majority of the episodes in each season) of Buffy, and was tempted to collect the comics when I found out that's how they're continuing the story... but just thought it'd be a bit.. erm.. naff.

Kinda like the Heroes comics...

Buffy is okay. The four-part Faith story was excellent (and the tenth Doctor and Rose appeared in the background  omg ), an the Buffy/Fray crossover was fun. There have been some awesome events.

And the main storyline works pretty well, but recently it's been a mess and it feels like it's just stalling until they can be bothered getting back to the main plot. I think it also depends who which writer writes the issue, it does vary wildly in quality.

Angel on the other hand has consistantly been fantastic. It had one writer doing a 17 issue run and has just switched to another writer without a drop in quality  upsmiley

Without trying to give too much away incase anyone ever plans on reading it, but the first page on chapter 4 of the first volume of Punisher MAX, the opening caption says "How would you like to hunt Bin Laden?"

WTF to the MAX

Maybe I dunno, Ed and Matt relaunched the Immortal Iron Fist Comics giving them a much needed and likeable "Kung Fu Edge" as well as fleshing out the weedy back story to be something quite epic. I need to get in on that action.

Just quickly wiki'd it and it is actually like a kung fu comic  laugh

Couldn't find anything on a kung fu film called the immortal iron fist though....  chinscratch

I'll let you read them first then, Schaf. And if you say it's any good, I'll add it to my list of comics to purchase in the future..

Anybody here read 100 Bullets?  I just started getting into it and have read three of the trade paperbacks.  It's a great gritty crime comic with a slowly unfolding conspiracy story tied into it.  Reminds me a bit of Ennis.

Just read Batman: Cacophony

Not too bad, but Joker stories are I think getting a bit blah, I'm not sure there's much more to be said from him.

Some nice touches made it enjoyable though.

He's only a sociopath because he was picked on for being a ginger turd.

Now finished reading Batman: A Death in the Family.

Honestly quite a shaky story. The big event was pretty cool, but most of the story surrounding it was a bit crap. The final chapter was also rather silly. A bit too silly.

100 Bullets is supposed to be pretty good. Planetary is another comic I keep meaning to check out but never get around to.
