Exciting!

Window closes at 5pm today I think.

Quote from: BBC Gossip about the clubs we support + other big rumours
Tottenham will beat off the late challenge of Everton to land midfielder Niko Kranjcar from Portsmouth.

Tottenham winger David Bentley looks set for a move to Manchester City for 10m, in a bid that will see Martin Petrov move in the opposite direction.

Portsmouth have rejected an offer from Tottenham which would see goalkeepers David James and Carlo Cudicini swap clubs.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp and club chairman Daniel Levy are at odds over whether to make a transfer-day bid for James.

Birmingham hope to complete the loan signing of Real Betis midfielder Achille Emana.

And City manager Alex McLeish is bidding for winger Peter Lovenkrands, who is a free agent after leaving Newcastle at the end of last season.

I'll update the OP as and when.

*rubs hands with glee*

I hope we sign someone. Anyone. It's always more exciting when it's deadline day.

Doesn't the window normally close at midnight?

Yep. But it has been extended due to yesterday being a bank holiday. Ridiculous, I know. Especially considering that there were still clubs signing players yesterday.

but only by 17 hours?

I suppose lots of lower league clubs mightn't have staff do to stuff on a bank holiday.

Maybe, but they still completed transfers yesterday.

The Spanish and German leagues have closed their transfer windows, it's just ours that is still open.

I reckon Ribery will move today.

You reckon he'd sell more shirts than Chucho? I'm not so sure.

Sure he would, everyone will want a piece of the "ill fated move to Brum" action to remember the event by

Yes! In a double swoop bees have only gone and bought maradona and pele. We only just missed out on jimmy greaves too.

The Blues are chasing Gareth "Never won a premier league game" Bale.
We've been chasing left backs all through the transfer window. But we have 3 on our books at the moment anyway. We're just short in other areas of the park too.

Queudrue is playing centreback at the moment (where I actually think he's a better player) due to injuries to Ridgewell, Dann, Taylor and Espinozas lack of match fitness... but by trade he's a left back. David Murphy is out until about November with a knee injury and we've signed Vignal on a free, but he's out injured at the moment too.

We've (supposedly) been after Armaund Traore and Gareth Bale all summer. Wenger told us he wouldn't decide on letting Traore go on loan until closer to the end of the window as he did quite well in pre-season, and I'm not sure there was ever actually any truth in the Bale transfer.

Ah well. We've signed another defensive minded centre midfielder instead in Temo Tainio or however you spell it. Just what we need, because in the centre of midfield we have 3 positions available and we only have Lee Carsley, Barry Ferguson, Lee Bowyer, Damien Johnson, Keith Fahey and Seb Larsson who can play there.  undecided

Still, I suppose he isn't a bad player.  And someone is better than noone... right?

Too many transfer day deals are needless panic buys. Notice how Utd's business is always done way before. The transfers this summer totally reflect how weak the pound is against the euro. I hope city start losing soon.

Considering they have bought 3 strikers and have Robinho, SWP, Petrov, Bellamy and Ireland in their squad, they are scoring a worrying lack of goals (well, I'd be worried if I were a Man City fan).

Pompeys signings were really quite poor. Are they preparing for the Championship already ffs?
