I haven't quite finished it yet, but there is a lot of Satan-sympathising going down.

A lot of the references to bible parables and old Greek mythology fly over my head occasionally, but it is an amazing piece of literature.

Until I saw this on the third time of reading, it didn't even register.  I was just thinking how very clever it was and how appropriate that it being about "religion" and approaching it from a "consumer taste" perspective it seemed right on and the only way to go.

Only sorry that the only option open for me was the "Boring" Christian category.

They should have given another choice or two.  ie. Do you think the universe is less than 10,000 years old, or more than 15 billion? That would definitely have allowed me to move out of the boring category.

Imagine what they could do if it were expanded or another one posted: "What kind of British churchman should you be?  Low Church Anglican, or Anglo-Catholic Anglican, or should you stick with the Anglican or convert to Catholicism (now that married Anglican priests will be accepted into the Catholic Church. Questions like: Are you female and want to be ordained a priest or made a bishop.  Gay and want to lead a chruch?  Want a position in parliaament, etc. etc.

Now, if I could just clean up a couple of entries to get it past some censors, I would post it on Facebook.

Either Atheist or Hindu. If there were Gods, I’d prefer there to be hundreds of them.

So: over on Holy Tacos, others are commenting on the atheism being a religion:

One commenter said:
"If atheism is a religion then bald is a hair colour."

It got this response from one who thinks like me!

"Actually "bald" is a hair colour.  Think "bald eagle" = white headed eagle.  Check out any good dictionary.
And that is a good place to check out "atheism".  Any "ism" is the belief or philosophy or system espousing a particular belief.  If one thinks there is no god, and acts on that assumption they are living out their worldview, and probably doing so "religiously" otherwise neither they nor anyone else would know they held those beliefs.
My dictionary says that atheism is a "disbelief in the existence of God, (or gods)"  A disbelief is nevertheless a belief.  "Belief" the dictionary says is "a firm opinion or conviction, an acceptance, etc."

Bald might not categorically be a hair colour, but it is inarguably an example of a hairstyle.

taking the ism from atheism is somewhat misleading though, it's theism with an a prefix the 'a' which suggests "not" or "without" which would suggest at it's root the word is someone "without the belief of god" rather than active disbelief. Similarly Agnostic comes from the term gnostic which stems from the Greek for knowledge so an Agnostic is someone "without knowledge".

That said I would still concede that there are strands of Atheism that are disbelievers and thus believers in the opposite and thus it's a religion/faith/doctrine as much as anything else just with less stories and the stories they do have don't tend to be morality reaffirming in anyway.
