It's like having Now 5405034504053045 added to the list though. It just aint right, I tells ya.

I dunno some of the early now albums have immense track listing.

I say compilations do count, otherwise I don't know what the first album I bought was. But they do count, and it was Hits 2000 (on 2x tape) from Woolworths in Cornwall.

I don't think anyone would seriously suggest a NOW compilation as an album to listen to before you die.  But there are a few compilations & soundtrack albums which are legendary or at least famous in their own right.
Examples include Phil Spector's Christmas album, Saturday Night Fever, Nuggets, South Pacific, and The Sound Of Music.

And then there are Greatest Hits albums, which are released by just about every band that isn't new.  Many of these are the only album worth having by some bands (especially pop acts with loads of hit singles, whose albums are crammed with rubbish filler)

I'm extending this list to 151 and adding The Pogues - Rum, Sodomy And The Lash.

Why am I only now just discovering the amazingness of The Pogues?!

Shane McGowan  bow bow bow

I used to have a mate who listened to them, and I think he actually went to see them on their reunion tour a few years ago but I didn't understand why he liked them so much. Bought their best of album and never really listened to it properly but had it on circulation on my ipod.

A song of theirs called The Body Of An American just happened to come on whilst I had all my ipod on shuffle about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I recognised it as the song that is used in The Wire, but I never realised that I actually owned this song  doh

Since then I haven't been able to stop listening to them. Listened to a few albums on Spotify, bought a few that I'm waiting to be delivered (ha!) and just keep listening to their best of on my way to/from work.

They are a-fucking-mazing. I fucking love The Pogues. You should too.

Quote from: Sally Maclennane Lyrics
Well jimmy played harmonica in the pub where I was born
He played it from the night time to the peaceful early morn
He soothed the souls of psychos and the men who had the horn
And they all looked very happy in the morning

Now jimmy didnt like his place in this world of ours
Where the elephant man broke strong mens necks
When hed had too many powers
So sad to see the grieving of the people that hes leaving
And he took the road for God knows in the morning

We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that wed be seeing him again
(far away) sad to say I must be on my way
So buy me beer and whiskey cause Im going far away (far away)
Id like to think of me returning when I can
To the greatest little boozer and to sally maclennane

The years passed by the times had changed I grew to be a man
I learned to love the virtues of sweet sally maclennane
I took the jeers and drank the beers and crawled back home at dawn
And ended up a barman in the morning

I played the pump and took the hump and watered whiskey down
I talked of whores and horses to the men who drank the brown
I heard them say that jimmys making money far away
And some people left for heaven without warning

We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that wed be seeing him again
(far away) sad to say I must be on my way
So buy me beer and whiskey cause Im going far away (far away)
Id like to think of me returning when I can
To the greatest little boozer and to sally maclennane

When jimmy came back home he was surprised that they were gone
He asked me all the details of the train that they went on
Some people they are scared to croak but jimmy drank until he choked
And he took the road for heaven in the morning

We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that wed be seeing him again
(far away) sad to say I must be on my way
So buy me beer and whiskey cause Im going far away (far away)
Id like to think of me returning when I can
To the greatest little boozer and to sally maclennane

Well I obviously liked Fairy Tale Of New York, but I never really listened to them so didn't really have an opinion on them.

Only this month bought and listened to #150 on that list. It's alright  upsmiley Some good songs on there that I quite liked, some seemed a bit meh. Needs a few more re-listens though, I think.

Dammit. Well, why don't you replace it with an album you think should be on there, that isn't?
